Fall is the Best Time to Start Something New

“Nothing changes, until you change,

Everything changes, once you change.”

~Julian Lennon

Happy Fall Y'all! I'm not southern but liked the alliteration of this phrasing so I'm borrowing it for today's email to usher in Fall. The Fall Equinox was yesterday so I wanted to explain why the momentum of Fall and "back to school" energy can actually support you in making changes in your life. Whether that's breaking a habit, starting a new routine or working on healing.

Studies show that Fall is a better time than the traditional January 1st to reset, start something new, build structure or add in a new routine to help you reach your goals. I think the reason why is that Fall is the season of Metal in Chinese Five Elements Theory, an aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And Metal is about time and structure. As well as of Reverence! Isn’t it interesting that being organized, grounded, and dedicated to a routine can bring you to the state of wonder…who wouldn't want to usher in more of that?

I also believe it is probably because resolutions are typically set in Winter. A season whose energy can be dominating with its cold and dreary weather. Unless you live in the South or Southern hemisphere. The energy of Winter can feel very unmotivating as it is a time to rest not a time to start a new project. This is why most people lose momentum by February 1st when setting their New Year's resolutions.

Instead of setting a resolution, some in the self-help arena have pivoted to creating a word of the year that they want to embrace. It takes the pressure off but still allows for goal setting.

For me I choose to focus on what the next year will look like for me. What big project I want to accomplish in my healing and in my business. Many times these coincide. As the more I heal the more I can contribute energy towards my business.

As you know I'm all about taking small steps that can lead to bigger life shifts in your health and well being. It's about breaking big goals down into manageable bites. The saying goes "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Not that I know anyone whose eaten an elephant but the metaphor works and your body speaks in metaphor so it understands it.

Remember it is important to know how your body works so that you can choose activities and mechanisms that work with it rather than against it.

Most people have no idea just how much their environment is impacting their health. Many still believe their genes are their destiny. But Epigenetics a theory developed in the 1970's explains how your environment is crucial in understanding health and sickness.

Symptoms like bloating, gas, fatigue, and brain fog might just seem like part of life, but they are often red flags of a deeper issue—your gut and brain health is compromised. It's an indication that your body is struggling to cope with a high toxic load. Sometimes causing even more conditions which can appear unrelated but are not, as the body is not a system of parts but all connected!

If you are continually working against your body healing will seem impossible and you will think there is something wrong with you. But I promise you there isn't.

I always say – there is hope and its never too late. As long as you are informed of the recent research and studies, you can always do something to take control of your health. And if research isn't your jam, I'm your girl! I'm always reading or listening to the latest research on healing the whole body.

Currently I'm focusing on creating a course for you to understand how to heal your body by decreasing your exposure to negative elements that exist in the modern day environment...many that you can't even see. This is the focus of my upcoming in person workshops for the Fall as well and where I focus first in one on one coaching.

This is why I have air filters in my house, because the air inside is dirtier than the air outside. Especially if you deal with mold like I do. And I have filtered my water for years but noticed in the last year that the filter couldn't keep up anymore so I purchased a water distiller unit. Something I've researched for the last three years. I love it and I noticed an decrease in some issues within a week of switching. My body actually craves the water now and I am no longer running to the bathroom every 20 minutes.

Learn more about the AirDr here as well as the Pure Water distiller here. *Note I became an affiliate for both of these products because I believe in their use and importance and want you to receive the best prices available.

Hit reply and share with me what you are deciding to start now rather than in January.

To the momentum of Fall,

Amy
