With the hustle and bustle of back to school and work you may be feeling a little bit stressed and rushed to do All Of The Things. I’m here to remind you that it’s important to nourish yourself every damn day. This doesn’t mean with “things” or for it to even be complicated. I’m talking about activities or skills that nourish you inside and out rather than drain you.
The idea of Self-Care has gotten a bad rap in that it is “selfish” to put yourself first. I’m here to tell you that is so far from the truth it’s crazy!! If you aren’t feeling your best you won’t be able to be all of the things to anyone else. It’s important to ask if you even want to be all of the things for everyone else?
When we aren’t resourced and providing what our bodies need we are more stressed and triggered by external and internal stimuli-we are also more likely to get sick. What if you decided to just do something good for yourself every day? Maybe it's hiding in your car down the road and taking a few deep breaths; maybe it's a walk in nature; maybe it's reading a fiction book to unwind; maybe it’s dancing or singing for 5 minutes before you have to run off to do something else; maybe it's treating yourself to something you’ve desired that will fill you up; maybe it’s primal screaming because we all need a healthy release.
You are only given one body in this life and believe me you want to honor and listen to it. Take it from me I didn’t! And I have many t-shirts to prove it along with 10+ years of battle wounds. Don’t believe it’s true listen to one of my podcast interviews and maybe you will relate!! The hustle is overrated and doesn’t actually work-slowing down is where the magic is.
We need to stop looking outside of ourselves for someone else or something to fix us. It doesn't exist and it leaves us lacking; giving away our power and with too much SHIT! You have everything inside of you that you need to heal. And in this moment to acknowledge that you are Okay!!
